Mary McAvoy a native of Drumgath County Down Northern Ireland settled in Australia 20 years ago and more recently with her husband David they purchased boutique winery Tallagandra Hills near Canberra. Mary is a cousin of Milestone owner Tom McAvoy and it is fitting that Mary chose Milestone as their sole outlet for their wines in Ireland.
The Great Ron named after our beloved family patriarch, Ron Faulks, who sadly passed away shortly before his 96th birthday, on the day we finished handpicking the 2017 vintage of this wine. He continues to watch over each year’s harvest.
Like the Great Ron, this wine has a strong, resident character with a memorable finish. With a dark chocolate and toffee nose, it has velvety black plum and cherry flavours and a subtle floral lift. Aged on oak, the wine is both powerful and elegant. Made in limited quantities from selected parcels of fruit, this wine will reward careful cellaring.
